Big Pink was introduced in 2009. Margaret crossed an "A" sized flower with a lavender "B" sized
lavender flower and the result was this huge dark pink flower. Big Pink grew to about 6 feet tall in the
Canby Trial garden. The first flush of flowers are 11-12 inches in diameter. When I was tending the
flowers at the Canby trial garden, several people used it as a background for family shots. I also
noticed that several people said, "Look at the Big Pink one over there!" That is why it is named Big
Pink. In addition to being a show flower, Margaret and our friend Gordon used it in flower
arrangements at the dahlia shows. It won best arrangement in show twice in 2008. It won a "King of
the Show" award in 2009.
